Western Province hammer Narbonne

Western Province and Narbonne line up before their friendly Western Province
Published on August 11, 2018

Western Province began their tour of France with a 59-14 win against Narbonne in Millau on Saturday.

The difference in class between the defending Currie Cup champions and the French second division side was stark, as WP outscored their opponents by nine tries to two.

The visitors came out firing, going 17-0 up after just 15 minutes thanks to tries from No 8 Juarno Augustus, scrumhalf Paul de Wet and centre Dan Kriel.

Hooker Scarra Ntubeni added a further try by intercepting an overthrown lineout, before Narbonne got themselves on the board just before the break with a penalty try.

Both Ntubeni and De Wet claimed their second tries early in the second half, in between a try from lock Salmaan Moerat.

Narbonne claimed an intercept try before Dillyn Leyds was at his opportunistic best to score a late brace.

WP will face Montpellier in their final tour match on Thursday.
