Wales have climbed to the top of the World Rugby rankings after the All Blacks’ shock defeat by Australia in the Rugby Championship.
The All Blacks relinquished their place at the summit of the rankings for the first time in 10 years following their 47-26 loss to the Wallabies in Perth, with Wales automatically moving above the defending world champions.
The world rankings will only be updated at the completion of this weekend’s set of Test fixtures, so the move to No 1 has yet to be made official, while Wales could lost their recently-acquired top spot should they lose to England on Sunday.
However, a win or draw with their bitter rivals could see them remain at the summit of rankings when it is officially released on Monday.
Wales, who have never been ranked No 1 since the rankings system was introduced in 2003, are currently on a 14-match winning streak.
