Coach Hawies Fourie has included Frans Steyn and Rosko Specman in the Cheetahs’ starting lineup for Saturday’s pre-season warm-up against Griquas in Kimberley.

The match between the two sides is in preparation for the upcoming local competitions, Vodacom Super Rugby Unlocked and the Currie Cup, which is set to kick-off on 10 October.

The last time the Cheetahs were in action was in a PRO14 clash against the Dragons on 29 February.

Clayton Blommetjies, Malcolm Jaer and Specman form a back three, while Steyn will partner outside centre Benhard Janse van Rensburg in midfield.

Tian Schoeman and Ruan Pienaar form the halfback axis.

The loose trio consists of No 8 Jasper Wiese and flanks Junior Pokomela and Andisa Ntsila.

Locks Walt Steenkamp and Carl Wegner will resume their second row partnership, while the front row see props Luan de Bruin and Charles Marais scrum down on either side of hooker Reinach Venter.

Oupa Mohoje, William Small-Smith and Craig Barry are all part of the Cheetahs’ 15-man bench.

The match kicks off at 10:30 and due to Covid-19 regulations, no supporters will be allowed inside the stadium.
