Scotland’s late show downs Georgia

Scotland celebrate Scotland's late show downs Georgia
Published on September 6, 2019

Scotland put aside a sluggish first-half display to beat minnows Georgia 36-9 in a World Cup warm-up match at Murrayfield on Friday night.

The Scots, who beat Georgia 44-10 in Tbilisi last Saturday, struggled to get any sort of rhythm in the first half and made a plethora of mistakes with ball in hand against their physical opponents.

The home side took a slender 10-9 lead into the break thanks to tries by scrumhalf Ali Price and fullback Blair Kinghorn. Georgia flyhalf Tedo Abzhandadze kept his team in the contest with three penalties.

However, Scotland were much more clinical in the second half. Sam Johnson went over in the 50th minute, before Darcy Graham, George Horne, Pete Horne added three more five-pointers to the scoreline.
