Springbok and Stormers flank Pieter-Steph du Toit says he could not be prouder to be able to share the field with younger brother Johan.
The 24-year-old Johan du Toit has made two appearances as a substitute this season after experiencing a breakthrough year into the Stormers set-up in 2019.
The two Du Toit brothers, who grew up on a wine farm in Riebeek-Kasteel in the Western Cape, were contracted at the Sharks at the same time in 2014 and 2015, before Pieter-Steph decided to move to Cape Town in 2016 and was joined by his sibling a year later.
‘It is an unbelievable experience for us,’ Pieter-Steph said. ‘Growing up together on the farm, we talked about everyone playing together one day.
‘So for us to have that opportunity at the Stormers is massive. The team we supported growing up. It is something we could not be happier or prouder about.’

Johan is not the only rugby-playing brother of Pieter-Steph as Anton, the third of the four brothers, is making a big impression at the University of Stellenbosch. Comfortable at fullback, centre and wing, Anton was part of the Maties team that won the Varsity Cup for the second time in a row last year and has settled in the starting lineup this year.
