The British & Irish Lions squad set to go on a 10-day training camp to allow the players to strengthen their relationships and bond before embarking on their tour of South Africa.
According to a report in the Telegraph, the Lions bosses are considering holding a 10-day training camp on the Channel Islands of Jersey and Guernsey before leaving for South Africa for an eight-match tour, including three Tests against the Boks.
It is believed Lions coach Warren Gatland had initially considered basing the squad in Jersey in case the tour was relocated to the UK and Ireland because of the Covid-19 pandemic, but that contingency plan was scrapped when it was confirmed that the tour will go ahead in South Africa.
Gatland was, however, impressed with the facilities on the island that he is still considering using it for their pre-tour camp ahead of the game against Japan at Murrayfield on 26 June.
And it is understood that the head coach is now also exploring the option of spending several days training at Guernsey RFC in order to break up the 10-day camp set to assemble on 14 June for those players not involved in the Premiership semi-finals and final, which coincides with the game against Japan.
Any players involved in the PRO14 Rainbow Cup final on 19 June should be able to join up with the Lions in camp on the following day.
