The Lions have reported mixed injury news with the loss of an experienced lock coupled with the return of a Springbok.
The Johannesburg side has been boosted by the return to full fitness of lock/flank Willem Alberts as they seek their first win in the Rainbow Cup against the also winless Stormers.
Alberts was appointed as the Lion’ captain for the Rainbow Cup SA following the departure of Elton Jantjies to France on a short-term loan deal.

The 36-year-old missed the team’s opening losses to the Bulls and Sharks through injury, but the Lions on Monday confirmed that he is available for selection for Saturday afternoon’s match at Ellis Park.
The Lions will, however, be without the services of lock Wilhelm van der Sluys, who will miss the rest of their Rainbow Cup SA campaign after being ruled out for up to six months with a shoulder injury.
Meanwhile, long-term absentees Jaco Kriel, Gianni Lombard and James Mollentze are all still recovering from their respective injuries.
