Jesse Kriel was ruled out of selection for Saturday’s clash with Namibia after suffering a knock to his hamstring during the 23-13 defeat by the All Blacks.
Kriel – who is set to join Alistair Coetzee’s Canon Eagles in Japan after the World Cup – featured off the bench in Yokohama on Saturday, replacing Lukhanyo Am at outside centre.
The 46-cap midfielder – who is featuring at his second World Cup – was set to start against the Namibians, but will unfortunately be forced to sit out due to what Bok coach Rassie Erasmus described as a minor injury.
‘Jesse is not available for this match. He’s got a slight hamstring strain,’ commented Erasmus following the team announcement for Saturday’s Pool B encounter.
‘I wouldn’t even say strain. It’s just a bump on the hamstring.’
Fortunately for the 25-year-old, the injury is not too serious and will not ruin his chances of playing against Italy and Canada in the remaining pool matches.
‘We guess that that’s just a week [-long] injury,’ added Erasmus.
‘So he’s not available this week but I’m pretty sure that in the next 7-10 days, he’ll be available.’
