Free State beat the Blue Bulls 31-24 in the main match of the U16 Grant Khomo Week in Kimberley on Friday.

The Bloemfonteiners made their presence felt early on with their big pack and built up a 19-0 lead thanks to three first-half tries, before the Blue Bulls scored their first.

A drop goal by Free State, soon after, stretched their lead to 22-5, but the Bulls hit back with a converted try shortly before half-time to close the gap to 10 points.

Free State struck first in the second half with their fourth try, before the Bulls scored back-to-back tries, the second of which was on the stroke of full time.
