Paul Gabrillagues will only miss France’s opening game at the World Cup with his six-week suspension reduced following a successful appeal.
The 26-year-old was handed a six-week ban for a dangerous head-first challenge on flank John Barclay during the first World Cup warm-up match between France and Scotland.

The initial sanction had ruled Gabrillagues out until 6 October, meaning he would have been unavailable for France’s pool games against Argentina, the USA and Tonga.
But following his appeal, the suspension was reduced from six to three weeks, leaving Gabrillagues free to play in all but France’s match against Argentina.
The lock already sat out their reverse friendly against Scotland and will do so again when France take on Italy on Friday.
