Romain Taofifenua will miss at least three weeks of training due to a hamstring injury, according to France’s medical staff, leaving doubts over his fitness for the World Cup.
“We had a little problem with Romain Taofifenua, who had pain in his hamstring. He was taken out of the group this morning for an assessment evaluation,” said team physiotherapist Bruno Boussagol on Wednesday.
“He is continuing his preparation with us. The objective is to re-assess it within three weeks.

“He will be taken care of as soon as possible so that he can return to the field. We need to take a little time to let the area heal.”
The injury means that the 32-year-old lock, who has 43 Test caps, will be unavailable to face Scotland in Edinburgh on Saturday in the hosts’ first World Cup warm-up game.
Les Bleus will face the Scots again on 12 August in Saint-Etienne, then play Fiji on 19 August in Nantes before rounding off their preparations against Australia at the Stade de France on 27 August.
The French play the opening match of the World Cup against the All Blacks on 8 September.
