Former Munster assistant Felix Jones is reportedly set to link up with the Springboks ahead of the upcoming World Cup in Japan.
The Springboks suffered a blow when Swys de Bruin recently quit his role as an attack specialist due to ‘personal and medical reasons’.
However, according to the RugbyPass website, the Boks may have found a replacement in former Ireland fullback Jones.
The 32-year-old had previously worked with Erasmus at Munster before the latter took up the job as Springbok coach and SA Rugby director of rugby.
Erasmus reportedly contacted Jones last year, but he was still contracted with Munster at the time. With his contract with the Pro14 having expired earlier this year, Jones is now free to take up a role in the Springbok coaching unit.
Jones made over 90 appearances for Munster in a seven-year playing career between 2009 and 2015. During this time he also won 15 Test caps for Ireland.
Unfortunately, Jones was forced to cut his career short following a neck injury and went into coaching. Along with his stint at Munster, he has also assisted the Irish national side under Joe Schmidt.
