Andre the Giant: Execution is everything

Powerhouse Andre Esterhuizen says the Springboks’ record win over the All Blacks in Wellington proved what is possible when the team executes their plan.

After a week off, the Boks are back in action in the Rugby Championship against Argentina in Durban on Saturday.

The midfield enforcer scored the final try in the Boks’ 43-10 demolition of the old foe, but admits as good as that was, they still have plenty to sharpen.

“It was obviously special to be part of a game like that, but there’s still so much to work on,” Esterhuizen explained.

“In the second half, a lot of things went in our favour because we executed better and worked harder. But there were lots of errors in the first half. I think that shows us what we can do when we execute and play together. If we execute, it can be really good. Now we just need to be consistent.”

BROWN: Boks got to get minds right

Looking ahead to the Kings Park showdown, Esterhuizen warned that Los Pumas would bring their trademark physicality and flair.

“As always with Argentina, you can expect a tough battle. It’s a tough country with tough people, so it’s always going to be physical. They’ve come a very long way in how they play – they’ve got a lot of flair and take their opportunities, especially with loose ball. They’ve got special players who can make special things happen, so I think it’s going to be a tight game – especially at the front.”
