Agustin Creevy has encouraged his Jaguares teammates to move on from Saturday’s runner-up finish in Vodacom Super Rugby, believing they ‘will have more many more finals’.
After a superb season that saw the Jaguares top the South African conference log, before ousting the Chiefs and Brumbies in the playoffs, they ultimately came up short against the Crusaders in the final.
But veteran hooker Creevy says while he is disappointed that they slumped to a 19-3 defeat in the final, he could not fault his team’s effort and passion.
‘We leave happy, we go with the heads high. I’m proud not only of the team, but of the whole environment that surrounds us,’ he commented.
Creevy added that the result of the final was determined by small errors but the Jaguares should still be proud of what they’ve accomplished this season.
‘Second place in Super Rugby was no small thing. This is the beginning of something nice and I am sure that we will have many more of these finals in the coming years.’

The 34-year-old also likened the Crusaders’ approach to that of the All Blacks.
‘They suffocate you with good defence and take advantage of it as soon as you get confused and add points.’
Creevy called on his teammates to shrug of this loss and shift their focus to the upcoming Rugby Championship and particularly their Test against New Zealand.
‘We must get up from this defeat. In two weeks we play the All Blacks at home. This does not stop here.
‘There is no time to think, now you have to relax a bit and then immerse yourself fully in the Championship and the World Cup, which is the main objective.’
