Pumas make changes to keep title bid alive

Argentina have made three changes to their starting lineup as they look to bounce back against the Wallabies in Saturday’s Rugby Championship Test at the Sydney Football Stadium.

Head coach Felipe Contepomi has responded to last weekend’s 28-24 defeat in Townsville by shuffling both his pack and backline, with experienced lock Guido Petti and loose forward Joaquin Oviedo handed starts in a rejigged forward unit.

Petti replaces Franco Molina in the second row, while Oviedo comes in at the expense of Pablo Matera, who drops to the bench.

Out wide, Rodrigo Isgro returns to the wing, taking the place of Bautista Delguy, who crossed for a try in round three but misses out on the match 23 altogether.

On the bench, scrumhalf Justo Piccardo and utility back Ignacio Mendy are recalled, with Geronimo Prisciantelli and Benjamin Elizalde making way.

Argentina enter the Sydney clash knowing that nothing less than a win will keep their Rugby Championship title hopes alive.

Contepomi’s men pushed the Wallabies to the wire last week, leading for much of the contest before conceding a late strike, and will be determined to make amends in front of another sold-out crowd.
