Fouché at fullback for Cheetahs

Cheetahs fullback Louis Fouché Louis Fouché
Published on October 4, 2018

Franco Smith has made four changes to his Cheetahs side for their match against Edinburgh at Murrayfield on Friday.

Two of the swaps are rotational and two are forced changes.

With Ryno Eksteen ruled out due to a knee injury, Louis Fouché gets the nod to start at fullback. Ali Mgijima has been drafted onto the bench to provide backline cover.

In the back row, Stephan Malan starts at No 8 in the absence of Gerhard Oliver, who has returned to Bloemfontein for the birth of his first child.

Furthermore, lock Justin Basson and hooker Jacques du Toit slot back into the run-on lineup, in place of Walt Steenkamp and Joseph Dweba, who move to the bench.

Utility forward Abongile Nonkontwana has been selected as a reserve and will make his debut in the competition should he take to the field later in the game.

Cheetahs – 15 Louis Fouché, 14 William Small-Smith, 13 Benhard Janse van Rensburg, 12 Nico Lee, 11 Sibhale Maxwane, 10 Tian Schoeman, 9 Tian Meyer (c), 8 Stephan Malan, 7 Junior Pokomela, 6 Neil Jordaan, 5 JP du Preez, 4 Justin Basson, 3 Johannes Coetzee, 2 Jacques du Toit, 1 Ox Nche.
Subs: 16 Joseph Dweba, 17 Charles Marais, 18 Günther Janse van Vuuren, 19 Walt Steenkamp, 20 Daniel Maartens, 21 Abongile Nonkontwana, 22 Shaun Venter, 23 Ali Mgijima.
