The Vodacom Bulls have hinted that France-based tighthead prop Marcel van der Merwe could be set to return to Pretoria in a cryptic social media video on Saturday.
The video – posted on the Bulls’ social media channels on Saturday – showed flashes of a player in a previous kit with the initials ‘VdM’ coming on screen.

Van der Merwe spent two-and-a-half years at the Bulls when he joined from the Cheetahs in 2014. He then moved to French giants Toulon after the 2016 Vodacom Super Rugby season, where he has played his rugby since.

The 29-year-old would bring plenty of experience to the front row. He made close to 50 Super Rugby appearances in his first stint in Pretoria and won seven Test caps for the Springboks during that time.
