THE MONEY MAN is betting R1,000 that the Lions will not lose by 18 or more points to the Crusaders in Saturday’s Super Rugby final.
The Lions need to have the perfect game and get the bounce of the ball if they are to cause an upset in Christchurch.
Stranger things have happened in sport – Buster Douglas beat the ‘unbeatable’ Mike Tyson, Leicester City won the English Premier League, Japan beat the Springboks at the 2015 World Cup and Ireland beat the All Blacks in Chicago.
If the Lions were to win this game it would take its place in sporting folklore as one of the biggest upsets in modern sporting history.

The bookies are saying they have less than a 10% chance of causing this upset but many experts say the chances are nil.
I am not one of those people. The Lions have experience and a team chemistry second to none and I doubt they will leave anything out on the park.
If they play a perfect game or the Crusaders underestimate them and the visitors get every bounce of that odd-shaped ball then this miracle may just happen.
The one bet I do like is to give the Lions a 17.5 head start as I doubt they will be blown away. This game, like most finals, will be closer than the pundits think.
I am betting R1,000 that the Lions will not lose by 18 or more points. It pays back R1,900 (which includes our stake) and maybe, just maybe, the Lions can make the expression ‘third time is the charm’ a reality.
