The All Blacks retained the world No 1 ranking after Wales squandered a golden opportunity to unseat them at the top, while the Boks slipped to fifth.
New Zealand’s humiliating 47-26 defeat by the Wallabies cost them 2.50 rating points – from 91.54 to 89.04 – and would have had them slipping to second, but Wales’ defeat by England meant New Zealand stay at summit.
Australia gained 2.50 points for their stirring effort against the 14-man All Blacks team in Perth, but remain sixth as the increase isn’t enough to push them up the rankings.
Wales stay in second spot after a 1.07 points deduction following their 33-19 loss at the hands of England at Twickenham. Eddie Jones’ team gained 1.07 points to move back up to fourth.
The Springboks’ commanding 46-13 victory over Argentina earned them 0.53 of a rating-point increase, from 86.30 to 86.83. But England’s elevation up the order means South Africa drop to fifth despite an improved tally.
Lower down, 0.53 of a point deduction has Argentina falling out of the top 10 to 11th, while Japan climb two spots to ninth above Argentina and Fiji.
