The Western Province Rugby Union have reportedly assured both players and employees that they do not need to worry about the financial state of the union.
Reports broke over the past week that the franchise may be unable to pay their employees beyond July, given the rumoured financial turmoil of the professional arm of the union. Further, contract negotiations with several top-line players were reportedly put on hold.
However, according to Netwerk24, the WPRU have drawn up the contracts that were promised and have reassured staff that they do not need to be worried over their salaries.
The news will come as a relief to Stormers fans, as the franchise could be set to lose a number of their key players in the off-season. Players are allowed to start negotiations with overseas clubs from 1 July, with all of captain Siya Kolisi, loosehead prop Steven Kitshoff and flank Pieter-Steph du Toit linked with moves to either Europe or Japan.
The Stormers have already lost experienced lock Eben Etzebeth to Toulon, while centre Damian de Allende has signed for Japan side Panasonic Wild Knights between January and May 2020.
