Kings chop and change again

Andisa Ntsila Andisa Ntsila
Published on January 25, 2019

Kings coach Deon Davids has made five changes to his injury-hit side for their clash against Edinburgh in Port Elizabeth on Saturday.

The backline sees just one change as Berton Klaasen, who is out after sustaining an eye injury, is replaced by Harlon Klaasen, with Tertius Kruger switching from 13 to 12.

Among the forwards, tighthead prop Luvuyo Pupuma will make a return to the starting lineup, replacing Nicolaas Oosthuizen. Experienced former Italy lock, Andries van Schalkwyk, will start alongside captain JC Astle.

There are a further two changes to the loose trio as Andisa Ntsila – in for Ruaan Lerm, who misses the game due to personal reasons – is accompanied by Tienie Burger, who replaces Henry Brown.

A late call will be made regarding the starting loosehead prop for the match, between veteran Schalk Ferreira and the youthful Alulutho Tshakweni.

The Kings will also have a new face on the bench in former Lions pivot Bader Pretorius, who has been training with the side this week.

Kings – 15 Masixole Banda, 14 Yaw Penxe, 13 Harlon Klaasen, 12 Tertius Kruger, 11 Bjorn Basson, 10 Ntabeni Dukisa, 9 Stefan Ungerer, 8 Andisa Ntsila, 7 Tienie Burger, 6 CJ Velleman, 5 JC Astle, 4 Andries van Schalkwyk, 3 Luvuyo Pupuma, 2 Michael Willemse, 1 Schalk Ferreira/Alulutho Tshakweni
Subs: 16 Alandre Van Rooyen, 17 Lupumlo Mguca, 18 Alulutho Tshakweni/Nicolaas Oosthuizen, 19 Stephan Greeff, 20 Henry Brown, 21 Sarel Pretorius, 22 Bader Pretorius, 23 Meli Rokoua.
